I know its probably a bit late to do a review on PGL the Musical but I have been damn busy. Anyway, last Sunday I went to see the production.
My thoughts:
1. For a local production it was outstanding. The set was better than some foreign productions I have been to either locally or abroad. If I could, I would go see it again.
2. All the actors played their part really well. Hats off to Tiara, Stephen, AC Mizal and Sukania in particular.
3. Vocally, Tiara is not an outstanding singer but can sing well. Stephen Rahman-Hughes is an outstanding stage singer.
4. Musically, the content was very well written and produced. The mixture of slow ballads, duets and upbeat songs were good.
5. On the negative, I found that at times the music was too loud and drowned the singing voices of the actors.
All in all, i'll give the production a strong 8.5/10 rating.
Can't wait for the P. Ramlee production at Istana Budaya later this year. Rumour is the budget for this production is RM3.5 million, almost twice the budget for PGL.
