When Pathetic Piranha's Attack

Time : This Morning
Place : Somewhere in KL

Chairman: ”Thank you for attending the xxth AGM for..”

I looked back and the floor was empty…. There were at least 250 people /shareholders behind me earlier… suddenly I realized, it’s the “kiasu” attitude… they had all gone to ‘attack’ the refreshments…

Being a Banker and guest of the Company for the AGM I hung around, shook hands with the relevant people, had small talk (which I hate the most) then politely went to see where the refreshments were…. Holy Shit!!!… it was like dropping a leg of a cow into a piranha infested lake… people were rushing and grabbing food all over the buffet spread… there was no queue… food wasn’t even in the serving dishes anymore, some were spread on the table… people were walking away from the table knocking into chairs as they could'nt see where they were going because the pile of food on their plate was so high it had blocked their line of sight (slight dramatization).....

I was thinking “these people are ‘shareholders’ of the company, they’ve got to have some sort of money to buy the shares… ” it was actually quite pathetic on how kiasu these people were… I guess their attitude is since its free and I’m a shareholder, I’m going to grab as much free food as I can…. If Bob Geldof saw this, and didn’t know that they were shareholders he would have done another charity concert just for them because they looked like they haven’t eaten in months….

If only these people has the same passion and attitude towards sports (the ‘kiasu’ don’t want to lose attitude), this country would be so very strong in the global arena of sports. Instead we get the 'manja', spoiled, complacent people representing our country in sports (there are a few exceptions)... but this is a topic for another discussion..
