Live 8.... Free Poverty!!

I'll continue with sports in my future entries but for those that had the staying power to watch through the Live 8 telecast, would probably agree with me that it was an awesome show. Perfect timing for a perfect cause.... Hats off to Bob Geldof.. yet again...

As I was watching Live 8, it just hit me.... only musicians can pull off something this huge for charity... I couldn't come up with any other profession capable of bringing the world together through a charity event... Sports celebrities can have charity events and friendly matches for charity but its simply not played on the same level.. For example a charity soccer match between the best of Europe and the Rest of the World would probably end up 4-all or 6-all and played in good spirits infront of 80,000 people.. but the truth is these games are just played at a "fun" level as these stars arent going to risk injury... and not many people would sit through an 11-hour telecast of one charity game after another... but you could sit through a whole lot of performances by musicians...

Also, musicians would actually perform alot better with 100,000 screaming fans bringing their adrenilin level to new highs... I doubt any of those who performed were holding anything back... they were just letting go having lots of fun for a good cause...

to me the performaces by U2, Maddona, Geldof were just awesome... even Green Day sent the right message... but nothing could top Nelson Mandela giving a speech for the cause and Geldof intoroducing an Ethopian girl that was saven from the original Live Aid....... for those who havent, go to www.live8live.com to support the cause..

Again.. well done Geldof and everyone who performed across the globe for Live 8... now lets hope the 8 men of G8 are actually listening...

As for me its back to sports after this... just had to give props to Live 8...
