Thoughts from Last Weekend

Some things I realized this weekend…

(1) My interest in Formula 1 has finally started to wane… I have been a serious F1 fan for a long time, I have gone to every F1 race in Sepang, defended some of their decisions to change the rules, woken up at ungodly hours to watch races in North & South America but after the fiasco in Indianapolis, I didn’t even bother watching the race last weekend in France. I really tried to maintain my interest for the last 2 seasons but suddenly it was gone… The TV was on, F1 was on... but I wasn’t even watching… by the way, Alonso won…

(2) The World Pool Championships…. I can watch Snooker anytime but somehow watching 9-ball pool on TV doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t. To me its like watching a mini-golf (putt-putt) competition, I’d rather watch the real game.

(3) Southern Hemisphere Rugby still rules… watching the All Blacks trounce the British Lions and Australia beating France, southern hemisphere rugby is still as strong as before. The last World Cup was just a glitch and England was damn lucky to win it… actually Wilkinson won it…

(4) Lance Armstrong is set to win No.7… Overtaking Jan Ulrich on the opening stage time-trial was simply awesome and says plenty on his ambitions. Ulrich, perennial runner-up to Lance (5 times to be exact) started a minute before him as the 2nd last rider to start but had to contend seeing the backside of Lance for the final 3kms. Too bad Lance came in 2nd, 2 seconds behind the stage winner… it would have been nice to see him try to be the first start to finish yellow jersey holder in over 70 years.
