Less Than 10 Minutes

That’s the amount of time I’ve spent with my 4 month old daughter in the past 2 days… This is because I have a disciplined baby that sleeps at 6.30pm-7.30pm everyday until very early in the morning. Yesterday due to a meeting in Wangsa Maju that ended at 6pm and the ensuing typical KL traffic chaos after the rain, I arrived home at only 7.40pm. By that time my daughter was asleep. Its been the same for the past 2 days.

I know it quite typical of young KL executives to see very little of their growing baby. I know of people that wake up their baby from sleep just so that they can spend time with them… I don’t think this should be the way. A good quality of life and a strong family should not play second fiddle to your career.

The government wonders why we have more and more delinquents in the school system…. Well, the lack of family togetherness and support is one of the most important factors… With our fucked up traffic jams and longish working hours it is no wonder that more and more kids are left unsupervised (or with the maid). Furthermore, people like me have to work Saturdays!! Where is the work-life balance?!?
